Here we see a Batik Air pilot try to drive a 737-900ER on a rally track very dusty runway. The story goes, because there's a volcanic eruption near the ariport, the pilot decide to put his foot down and get the hell out of there.
It happens in Baabullah Airport, Ternate, Indonesia. Which is sad, since it has very beautiful scenery. That photo was found in a local newspaper. Batik Air is a full service subsidary from Lion Air, that enourmous Indonesian low-cost carrier.

Well, that will likely be a new pair of CFM56's for that plane. Ash and jet engines don't get along well.
Bagging the engines and waiting it out would have been the proper action.

Well, Lion is a bit abusive to their 737-900ER to be honest..
